Hello world!

Hello world!

Welcome!

Thanks for stopping by! I started this blog as a personal outlet and journal. Life can feel overwhelming as a working mom who homeschools and helps manage our hobby ranch. By sharing my experiences—both successes and challenges—I hope to support other moms facing similar journeys. As a relatively new homeschooling mom, I don’t have all the answers, and I never will, but I’ve discovered a deep passion for teaching my children and watching them grow. Spending this time with my family is my greatest blessing, and I’m excited to share glimpses of our ranching homeschool life with you. So come along and enjoy the journey!

A little introduction

My name is Lindsey and I was born and raised in Florida – which is where we still live and run our hobby ranch. I went to undergrad at Florida State University (Go Noles!) and then completed my PhD in Neuroscience at the University of South Florida. I decided that pure benchwork science and academia was not for me and luckily found my way to Medical Writing which is what affords me the freedom and flexibility to be able to work from home and homeschool my boys. I am also an avid reader and you can usually find me trying to juggle 3-4 books at a time (physical, e-book, and audiobook).

I will not be using my sons real names or showing their faces on here for privacy reasons but my oldest son – who I will refer to by his nickname Bones – is 6 and just completed his Kindergarten year! My younger son – who I will refer to as TG – will be turning 4 in a week and he mostly just sits with us during school but he has already learned a ton just by being around us. I am excited to get started with teaching him more formal lessons for his Pre-K year in the fall. I am also pregnant with our 3rd baby – due in August – and we cannot wait to complete our family with this little one 🙂

My husband and I run a hobby ranch on our 50 acre property. We have a small cow/calf operation and we love being able to see the cows grazing outside our window every morning. We have a few chickens running around as well. Living a more rural lifestyle while raising and educating my kids wasn’t something I ever expected but I am so incredibly thankful that this is the way things turned out and now I cannot imagine my life any other way.

Things I am loving

  • Currently reading The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab and absolutely loving it so far!
  • Currently listening to the new Morgan Wallen album – my favorite songs from the album so far are I’m A Little Crazy and 20 Cigarettes – it is definitely a different vibe from his usual stuff but I like most of the songs.
  • Our pool – this Florida heat is no joke (especially 7 months pregnant) and having a pool has truly been a lifesaver for me and the boys

Drop me a comment and let me know your current favorite book or song – I am always looking for suggestions!
